I am a multimedia journalist based in Ottawa and Edmonton.
I have reported on a wide variety of topics, from federal politics to foreign and defence policy to the shortage of veterinarians in rural Alberta and new gene therapy being offered in Edmonton. I particularly enjoy reporting on science, technology, environment, and conflict.
I am experienced in the production aspects of journalism, having served as an associate producer of CBC’s Edmonton AM, a local current affairs morning radio program.
My written work has appeared in The Hill Times, CBC Edmonton, Ottawa Citizen and Capital Current.
I have reported for digital, radio and visual platforms.
I am especially skilled in print and audio journalism. I can write anything from a 300-word news piece to a multi-thousand-word in-depth feature and produce anything from a one-minute radio news voicer to a longer podcast.
I have also enjoyed reporting for television and will take any opportunity to do it again. I am a good photographer, and my photographs have been published alongside my stories.
Besides English, I speak Ukrainian and Russian fluently.
I have resided in Canada, Australia, and Ukraine.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in history and political science from the University of Manitoba and Master of Journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the mountains, scuba diving and photography.
